Principal’s Letter - Dec. 2008
Dear Wheeling Families,
The Wheeling Vision: We envision Wheeling Elementary as a learning community where students use the inquiry process to become knowledgeable; develop intercultural understandings, and become active, caring and lifelong learners.
Our first semester of the 2008-09 school year will be ending in a few short weeks. Our staff and students have been working hard to help all students make progress on our high standards. We have many activities going on and a variety of partners we work with to assist us in our mission. We are pleased to host several outside providers as well as our own teachers who are providing after school programs to support our students.
International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program – Wheeling continues to pursue authorization to become an IB school. (Please see the update from our coordinator in this newsletter.) Be sure to look at our Program of Inquiry posted by the main office to see what your students are doing. We continue to develop the IB Learner Profile characteristics in our students. IB learners strive to be: Inquirers, Knowledgeable, Thinkers, Communicators, Principled, Open-minded, Caring, Risk-takers, Balanced, and Reflective.
Sincerely,
Jan Lotter
Principal
