Principal’s Letter - Feb. 2009
Greetings from Wheeling Elementary!
As we head into February and March, we are heading into school testing season. Our teachers have been working very hard to help prepare students for the CSAP tests they will be taking. As a staff, we have been focusing on asking good questions. Continue to ask your student “What good questions did you ask today?” followed up with “What good questions did you answer today?” We continue to work on strategies that will help our students become better thinkers, not just better test takers.
We continue to pursue authorization of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program for Wheeling. We are pleased to announce we will have our first International Night on April 21. It will consist of various components, one of which requires parent participation. We would like to invite parents to come in and share what you can about your culture. We will be sending home invitations in a couple weeks and I am asking that you please consider coming in to share items, stories, or information about your culture. We are fortunate to have families from so many different countries and we look forward to celebrating our diversity on International Night, and to see what our students have been learning in the Primary Years IB program.
CSAP Reading Tests for Third Grade will be February 18-19. Please be sure your students are well rested and prepared for these important days.
Sincerely,
Jan Lotter
Principal
