Dynamic DuoJenny Killion and Meaghan Whitney (AKA the Dynamic Duo), the amazing teacher-leaders  at Crawford Elementary have developed a great course for any one with Promethean interactive whiteboard.  This is guaranteed to be worth your while. They’ve developed tech savy strategies for increasing student acheivement.

Learn how to use and apply technology in all instructional areas of the K-5 classroom.  Classes will begin with basic skills and incrementally increase in complexity.  Teachers will be given time to immediately apply new learning in order to plan for future instruction.  
6 classes = 1.0 credit
  •  Mondays from 4:00-6:30pm
  • January 26th, February 2nd, February 9th, February 23rd, March 2nd, and March 9th 
    • Classes will be held at Crawford Elementary in Room 41
To register, complete the course registration form and fax it in by January 9th.

 ”Show your work.” That’s what Mr. Clevenger, my sixth grade teacher used to always tell me after I solved a math problem.

Well here’s an example of using technology to enable students to show their work and share their ideas with others.  These 6th grade Bostonians use activstudio to show their work and Jing Project to capture themselves explaining it.  They used the built in microphone in the laptop rather than an attacheable mic. 

What I love about this, is that although all three students explain .83 using the same method. They each had their own unique way of explaining. After her explanation, Minni asks, “Why?” Are there any students out there that would like to explain? Use the “comments” hyperlink below to get started.
