Bakker Blog

Hi!  My name is Karen Bakker.  I have been teaching middle school in Aurora Public Schools for 28 years. I have been here at North for 8 years teaching English Language Acquisition .  I have earned my Masters Degree from the University of Northern Colorado in teaching Linquistically Diverse Students.  I have lived in Aurora and actually attended North in the early 1970’s.  It was a junior high at that time.  I continued on to Hinkley and then was part of the first graduating class of Gateway in Aurora. I have two children that also attended Aurora Public Schools.  I love teaching and I love middle school students so I am a very happy person!

ELD is a year long class that meets every other day for 100 minutes at a time.  We delve deeper into English by studying the functions of the English Language and getting the opportunity to practice the language. Please encourage your child to share with you what they practice and practice at home also.
