Learning Objective: As a mathmeticiand I will be able to use benchmark fractions to help me estimate the size of a fraction.

Language Objective: Explain in writing what a benchmark fraction is and how you use it.

Success Criteria: 

  • I will be able to identify a benchmark fraction
  • I will use my understand of benchmark fraction to help estimate other fractions
  • I will have some proof and math reasoning that my estimates are correct

Language Objective:Describe in writing what strategy you used to help you find the unknow fraction. 

                                       “The strategy I use was…….. it help me because……..”

Success Criteria:

  • I will be able to look at a picture and estimate the fraction
  • I will be able to pick a strategy to help me prove my thinking
  • I will be able to clearly communicate my math understand in writing
